Destination Challenge

E-mail Print PDF
Teens:  There will be NO Sunday Night Dynamite prep on November 30.  We will prep on the 7th after Singing with the Shut Ins.

Sunday night (Nov. 30) from 6-7:30 the K-12th graders will be participating in their first Destination Challenge of the year.  The winning Sunday Night Dynamite team has challenged the teens to create a lesson using Strike and Spare as an object lesson.  We will leave from the building at 6 and return by 7:30.  Each child is asked to bring $2.  We will provide a treat but not dinner.  See Joe Stone for a permission slip.

Help Needed:

We need substitutes for the youth class (K-12) on December 21 and 28.  Plans can be provided or you can do whatever you want.

The next Winterfest payment is due December 17.

Look for Princess Training info to be coming out the first of January.  Classes start January 17 with the Ball on March 7.  If you want to help with the class, see Deanna ASAP.

October: Almost Gone!

Thanks to Tonya with assistance of Rick and Bryan for making Saturday's fundraiser possible.  A special thanks to Michael Fenswick for his generosity.  Some of you added a substantial amount of money to your Winterfest accounts.  It is our goal to have the final price and information to you next Wednesday.  We'll also let you know the total amount of money you have earned.  We are proud to see that you are willing to work .

THIS WEEK

Make plans to be at the building all afternoon on Sunday.  Deanna is fixing the hamburger stuff for lunch, so please bring $2 to contribute to its cost.  We'll start the afternoon by decorating our car for Trunk-or-Treat.  (We need ideas!)  Then, at the typical 4:00 we'll gather for SND prep.  We'll work and eat together again.  We will have a shortened SND due to the Trunk-or-Treat.  We hope you will make plans to be involved in all of the activities of the day.

More for October

E-mail Print PDF

We had a great annual camping trip with a total of 26 people there at some point during the weekend.  Thanks to the adults who made it possible!  Camping is a lot of work.

THIS WEEK

You have the opportunity to earn money for Winterfest by washing windows at Michael Fenswick's on Saturday morning at 9.  See Tonya on Wednesday if you want to go.

COMING UP

Next Sunday we'll be at the building all afternoon as we prepare for November's Snday Night Dynamite Challenge and Trunk-or-Treat.  We need you!

FOR THE YOUNGER CROWD

Sunday Night is Singing Night but the children earn extra points toward their team's challenge total.

Trunk-or-Treat, Sunday, October 26, 7 PM.

OUR NEEDS

The teens will be at the building all afternoon October 26.  They'll likely want to eat!  We'll provide the money for someone to prepare one of the meals.

Trunk-or-Treat grows every year.  We'd like some help with publicity to the community.

The October Challenge Continued. . .

E-mail Print PDF

Yes, this is a crazy month!  The garage sale was greatly blessed.  The teens who worked earned some SERIOUS money toward their Winterfest accounts.  The next fundraiser is October 18th.  See Tonya if you want to earn money.  Thanks to all of the adults who are making these opportunities available.

Now introducing. . . the 2008-2009 Teen Ministers. . .

We really do have a great group of teens and several are willing to take their involvement to a new level.   Here are the assignments some teens were willing to accept.

Communications:  Joe Stone

Joe will use Facebook to notify you of upcoming events.  If you want to be added, see Joe.  Joe is also your contact person for what's happening at JA and letting us know who's needing a ride.  In other words, Joe knows!

Songs:  Josh Wilson

Josh will start the teen class off with some songs each night, help us learn some new songs, and will lead songs for the little kids in the absence of Tonya on Wednesdays.

Little Kids:  Anna Triplett

Anna will keep up with the birthdays of the younger kids and see that they get a card from the teens.  She'll also be a lead organizer of Destination Challenges.

Sunday Night Dynamite Publicity:  Cornelius Williams

Cornelius will be talking up SND.  He'll see that the banner is hung and get the flyers out when we've got ourselves organized.  Later in the year, he'll do some commercials at Y.E.S.  He'll be a lead organizer for Pizza Night in January.

There's still work to do.  If you are interested in the Caring or Calendar ministries, let us know.  Or, if you have your own idea, even better!

THIS WEEK FOR THE TEENS

Permission slips and $10 are due on Wednesday for the camping trip.  The last chance to get a permission slip is from Deanna at the gym on Tuesday.  Wednesday night is cake night.

Camping Trip:  Friday-Sunday!

SND:  Sunday night at 6, Round 1 Challenge continues.  Great first week!

THIS WEEK FOR THE YOUNGER ONES

Sunday Night Dynamite Challenge (Story of Esther), Sunday at 6

UPCOMING NEEDS

Anyone is welcome to come and have some fun with the teens (volleyball), eat campfire food, or come and sing with us.  We generally camp in the primitive section at Montgomery Bell between the two bathhouses.  Look for the JA van or attempt to call our cell phones.  If you know you are coming at a food time, let us know and we'll plan for you.

The teens will be at the building all afternoon on October 26 to prepare for SND and Trunk-or-Treat.  They will likely be wanting food :)  If you can prepare a meal, we'll provide the money.  Keep it simple!

Help with publicity for Trunk-or-Treat.

COMING SOON

Trunk-or-Treat, Sunday, October 26, 7 PM.

God's saving grace has appeared to all people.  It teaches us to say no to godless ways and sinful longings. We must control ourselves. We must do what is right. We must lead godly lives in today's world. That's how we should live as we wait for the blessed hope God has given us.
